Oleksandra Oliynykova donates Canadian Open prize money to Ukraine military

Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova has donated her entire prize money from the Canadian Open to support the Ukrainian military. Following her first-round loss to Karolina Pliskova, Oliynykova received $18,000, which she directed toward funding unmanned aerial systems and ground robotic technology.

According to United24, the funds were split between the ‘Spalakh’ Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the Ground Robotic Systems Company of the 413th ‘Raid’ Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment.

Czech player Linda Noskova publicly supported the gesture on social media, using yellow and blue emojis to honor the Ukrainian flag. Oliynykova, currently ranked 44th in the world, has been a vocal advocate for Ukraine throughout the conflict, frequently addressing the war and the stance of other athletes on social media.
