Oleksiy Honcharenko expelled from European Solidarity party

The European Solidarity parliamentary faction in Ukraine has expelled lawmaker Oleksiy Honcharenko due to ideological disagreements regarding the war with Russia and Ukraine’s future security architecture. The party stated that while compromises may be part of ending the conflict, Ukraine’s independence and its right to determine its own security system are non-negotiable.

The expulsion follows Honcharenko’s recent public suggestions that Ukraine is losing the war and should pursue negotiations with Moscow. He proposed a series of parallel agreements on specific issues—such as protecting ports and enterprises—rather than attempting to resolve all complex matters like territory and sanctions in a single comprehensive settlement. His plan included involving international actors like Turkey, the IAEA, and the Vatican to oversee various aspects of a potential peace process, including shipping safety and the return of prisoners.
