Oleszyce Battle diorama exhibited in Rzeszów

The Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) branch in Rzeszów is hosting a historical diorama depicting the 1939 Battle of Oleszyce. The 3-square-meter model was created by 15-year-old Michał Grabik, a student and member of a local shooting unit.

The model, constructed using approximately 20 different building block sets and various handmade elements, aims to faithfully represent the military realities of the conflict. It commemorates the actions of the 21st Mountain Infantry Division under the command of General Józef Kustroń, who fell in battle near Koziaówka on September 16, 1939.

The exhibition is also part of the commemorations for the 450th anniversary of Oleszyce receiving city rights. The diorama will be available for visitors at the IPN headquarters in Rzeszów until September 30, 2026.
