Olevano sul Tusciano celebrates Grandparents' Day with community photography event

Italy celebrates Grandparents' Day on October 2, a national holiday established by law in 2005 to honor the vital role elderly family members play in society and child development.

In Olevano sul Tusciano, the municipality is hosting a special initiative titled ‘Abbracci di Gentilezza – Scatti tra Nonni e Nipoti’ (Hugs of Kindness – Snaps between Grandparents and Grandchildren) on October 3 and 4. Held at the Municipal Library, the event offers free portrait photography services, allowing grandchildren to accompany their grandparents to capture lasting memories of their bond.

Local officials, including Mayor Michele Ciliberti and Vice Mayor Giusy Pastorino, emphasized that the initiative aims to recognize grandparents as the roots of the community and to celebrate the emotional and practical support they provide to younger generations.
