Athens Court rejects Olga Kefalogianni's appeal for sole custody
The Athens Court of Appeals has rejected an appeal by Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni regarding the custody of her two minor children. In decision 4793/2026, the court upheld the previous ruling from November 2025, maintaining a joint custody arrangement with equal residence time between the children and their parents, Olga Kefalogianni and Minos Matsas.
The court's decision addressed two primary requests from the Minister: the granting of sole custody and the reversal of the initial ruling concerning the reasons for the dissolution of her marriage. Both requests were dismissed on their merits. The court emphasized that the best interests of the children and their healthy psychological development are served by the active participation of both parents in their daily lives.
Judges noted the strong bonds the children maintain with both parents and the effective communication between Kefalogianni and Matsas regarding child-related matters. The court also took into account the close proximity of the two parental residences and the results of personal communication with the children, who were described as appearing calm and well-balanced.
