Romania coastline sees fatal drownings and safety alerts

A series of tragic accidents and safety concerns have emerged along the Romanian coast and in regional areas. In the seaside resort of Olimp, two brothers aged 17 and 19 drowned after entering the water despite red flags being displayed. Lifeguards reported that extremely strong currents made the rescue operation unsuccessful.

In Tulcea, an 8-year-old girl died after drowning in a pension's swimming pool. The child reportedly used a water slide and was not noticed in time by those nearby. Police have opened a criminal investigation into the incident to determine if safety regulations were followed.

Other incidents include a 13-year-old girl being rescued by jet ski after being pulled into the sea by waves, and a man in Eforie Nord being fined after being rescued twice in one day for ignoring safety warnings. These events have sparked public debate regarding the responsibility of tourists who ignore lifeguard warnings and the potential for charging individuals for rescue operations when they disregard red flag prohibitions.
