Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals set as Vasco and Cienciano advance

The Copa Sudamericana round of 16 has concluded, with seven of the eight quarter-final matchups now determined.

In Paraguay, Vasco da Gama secured their place in the quarter-finals after a 4-1 victory over Olimpia in Asunción, following a 0-0 draw in the first leg. Goals from Thiago Mendes, David, Adson, and Spinelli secured the win for the Brazilian side. Vasco will face the winner of the match between River Plate and Santa Fe.

In Brazil, Cienciano of Peru advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Botafogo with a 6-2 aggregate score. Despite losing 1-0 in the second leg at the Nilton Santos Stadium, Cienciano’s dominant 6-1 victory in the first leg proved decisive. Cienciano will face Montevideo City Torque, who advanced by defeating Tigre.

Other Brazilian clubs confirmed for the quarter-finals include São Paulo, who defeated Bolívar, Atlético Mineiro, who advanced after a draw with Red Bull Bragantino, and Santos, who progressed against Macará. São Paulo is set to face Boca Juniors in the next stage.
