Olimpia coach explains Derlis González injury

Olimpia manager Pablo Sánchez provided details regarding the injury sustained by player Derlis González during the team's 3-0 victory over Sportivo San Lorenzo in the Clausura 2026 tournament.

Sánchez explained that the injury occurred during the warm-up session just as the player was being prepared to enter the match as a substitute. González reported a sensation of something detaching in his heel. While the incident initially caused alarm for both the player and the coaching staff, medical staff later indicated it was a fascia-related issue and not a cause for serious concern.

The manager also addressed the reaction from fans at the Defensores del Chaco stadium. After González was unable to enter the game, some spectators directed insults toward Sánchez, mistakenly believing the substitution had been cancelled for other reasons. Sánchez clarified that he was attempting to signal to the crowd that the player had suffered an injury during the warm-up.
