Olimpiadas de Oro 2026 national senior competition begins in Tlaxcala

The sixth edition of the Olimpiadas de Oro 2026, a national competition for senior citizens, is being held on August 27 and 28 in Tlaxcala, Mexico. The event marks the first time the state will host this national gathering.

In Tlaxcala, Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros led the flag-raising ceremony for the state delegation, which consists of 328 participants. The governor highlighted the state's investment in sports infrastructure and its readiness to host delegations from across the country. Mariana Espinosa de los Monteros Cuéllar, president of Sedif, noted that the selection process involved participants from various municipalities.

From the state of Coahuila, delegations from San Juan de Sabinas and Múzquiz have traveled to compete. The San Juan de Sabinas group includes 24 participants competing in disciplines such as pre-Hispanic dance, danzón, and chess. Representing Múzquiz is Julio Flores, who will compete in shot put after achieving a mark of 11.70 meters during the state qualifying stage.
