Olinda and Garanhuns offer free percussion workshops
The “Roda Contracolonial” percussion workshop is opening free registrations for sessions in Olinda and Garanhuns, Brazil. Supported by Funcultura, the program integrates dance, percussion, and memory through the concept of “counter-colonialism” inspired by the teachings of Nego Bispo.
In Olinda, classes will be held at Terreiro Xambá from October 29 to November 1. In Garanhuns, sessions will take place at Quilombo Castainho from November 12 to November 15. The initiative aims to foster a horizontal learning environment by valuing local rhythms such as coco, ciranda, and maracatu alongside collective creation and ancestral knowledge.
