Olinia project seeks 950 million pesos for electric vehicle manufacturing

The Mexican Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation (Secihti), advised by Nacional Financiera (Nafin), is seeking private investors to establish the Olinia Society. The goal is to raise 950 million pesos to manufacture, distribute, and commercialize electric vehicles developed under the project.

The government has launched a call for participation where private investment is expected to range between 500 and 745 million pesos, while Secihti will contribute between 205 and 390 million pesos. Nafin stated that government participation will not fall below 33% of the capital under any circumstances. While foreign companies may participate, their combined stake cannot exceed 33% to ensure Mexican capital maintains a majority.

Olinia is designed as a micro-mobility electric vehicle project focused on short-distance, last-mile transport for people and goods in urban and semi-urban environments. The registration process for investors will run from October 14 to November 3, 2026, with a final selection process concluding on January 29, 2027. A minimum investment of 200 million pesos per participant or consortium is required.
