Olitec Foundation proposes technological hubs to revitalize small Italian towns

The Olitec Foundation (Fondazione Olivetti Tecnologia e Ricerca) is proposing a strategy to revitalize small Italian municipalities through digital regeneration, advanced training, and emerging technologies. A conference in Nespolo will discuss research aimed at the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate, which suggests using technological hubs to combat depopulation.

Following a model tested in Collalto Sabino, the foundation plans to activate a residential training center in Nespolo between 2030 and 2040. This center will focus on nuclear and space technologies, featuring 120 beds, laboratories, and academic partnerships. The project aims to stimulate local demand for housing, services, transport, and commerce by increasing the daily population through professional and scientific activity.
