Oliva, Chile and El Ejido, Spain launch free municipal cultural programs

The municipality of Olivar in Chile’s O’Higgins region used the regional government’s 8% Community Culture Fund to host a series of free cultural activities during the first half of the year. Mayor María Estrella Montero praised the regional support for expanding access to arts and education for families across the commune.

In El Ejido, Spain, the town council’s “Verano Cultural 2026” will run from July to August, offering guided visits to archaeological sites such as Ciavieja, heritage routes at the Castle of Guardias Viejas and the Torre de Balermay, and temporary exhibitions including “Lapis Specularis” and a maritime‑culture show. Councilor Elena Gómez highlighted the aim of promoting local historic assets and engaging the public in cultural heritage.
