Oliva repairs cemetery damage following storm Adam

Cleanup efforts are underway at the Oliva municipal cemetery to repair damage caused by storm Adam. Despite being located in a high area of the town, floodwaters entered the necropolis, flooding lower niches and dislodging some tombstones.

Local authorities and Civil Protection organized volunteer work over the weekend to restore the site. The cleanup was deemed essential to ensure the cemetery is safe and functional for the upcoming All Saints' Day commemorations, a period of high visitor traffic.

The City Council noted that the restoration is also economically significant for the municipality, as the holiday typically drives high activity for local businesses such as florists. Officials had previously requested that residents delay visits to avoid hindering the cleaning and repair processes.
