Oliva, Spain, faces severe flooding from DANA Adam storm

The town of Oliva and surrounding coastal areas in the Marina and Safor regions of Spain are facing significant consequences following the DANA Adam storm. More than 25,000 residents are estimated to be affected by the flooding, which has caused hundreds of vehicles to be damaged and dozens of businesses to close.

Local authorities report that the beach area has been without water for four days, and schools have been closed for three. The municipal government has established the Centre Polivalent as a shelter, providing food, clothing, and psychological support to evacuees with assistance from the Red Cross. Mayor Yolanda Pastor has noted that repairing water supply damage in the beach area could take at least two more days.

Religious institutions have also suffered damage. Parishes and local halls in low-lying areas, including Oliva and Piles, have been flooded. The church at the Convent of the Poor Clares in Oliva was specifically reported as inundated, though the resident community remains safe on higher ground. Officials are currently assessing the full extent of the material damage caused by rainfall exceeding 600 liters per square meter.
