Olive harvest begins with varying regional outlooks

The olive harvest has commenced across several regions, though market conditions and crop quality vary significantly by location.

In Morocco, olive prices have reached 10 DH per kilogram at the start of the season. National production is expected to decline compared to the previous season, and limited initial volumes are preventing immediate price relief for consumers. Harvesting has begun in regions including Ouazzane, Kelaâ des Sraghna, El Attaouia, and Taounate. High labor costs and the intended use of olives for oil production are also influencing market expectations.

In France, producers report a positive outlook for the season following a wet spring and a warm summer. The olives are described as healthy and fleshy, with low levels of olive fly activity. The pressing schedule is set to begin in mid-October for green fruit, reaching full capacity in November, and continuing through December for black fruit. New oils are expected to be available for purchase by mid-November.
