Olive oil sector in Andalusia focuses on quality and security

In Jaén, government officials visited the La Loma mill, part of the Castillo de Canena group, to highlight the province's status as a global leader in extra virgin olive oil. Erik Domínguez, the government delegate in Jaén, noted that the sector has become a symbol of quality due to advancements in production systems and the rise of early harvest oils. The region is home to approximately 67 million olive trees, representing a significant agricultural landscape.

Meanwhile, in Puente Genil, security forces and agricultural representatives met to coordinate efforts to prevent olive theft during the 2026-2027 campaign. The meeting included the Civil Guard, local police, and olive cooperatives. The Civil Guard emphasized the use of specialized units, such as the ROCA team, which focuses on investigating and preventing crimes within agricultural and livestock operations to ensure the smooth development of the harvest.
