Oliver Bearman criticises Haas qualifying performance after Hungarian GP setback

Haas driver Oliver Bearman expressed frustration after failing to advance beyond Q1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix, noting that the team could not match the pace of Aston Martin, whose Fernando Alonso topped the session. Bearman blamed a shortage of tyre sets and the car’s balance, saying the team “shouldn’t be fighting them” and that the track’s short straights disadvantaged the Honda-powered chassis.

Despite the recent qualifying difficulties, Bearman told AFP he believes he has the qualities to become a world champion, citing his experience alongside fellow young driver Kimi Antonelli and his development within the Ferrari driver academy. He highlighted the strong start to the season, including a fourth‑place finish in Mexico, and remains confident that improved equipment and strategy can restore Haas’s competitiveness.
