Oliver Pocher criticizes German public broadcasters and Jan Böhmermann
Comedian Oliver Pocher has issued sharp criticisms against Germany’s public broadcasting system, including ARD and ZDF, during an interview on the TOMorrow podcast. Pocher argued that the current media landscape lacks independence and suffers from an excess of channels that primarily represent a single political direction.
Pocher specifically criticized the perceived lack of neutrality in talk shows, citing moderator Louis Klamroth’s personal relationship with Green Party activist Luisa Neubauer as a conflict of interest. He further claimed that the constant framing of certain political groups leads to a sense of being lectured by the media, which he believes contributes to the rise of right-wing populism.
Regarding Jan Böhmermann, Pocher suggested that the entertainer has increasingly overstepped boundaries by making unsubstantiated accusations against individuals. He characterized the potential end of Böhmermann’s show as an expected outcome for a program he believes has been declining in relevance for years.
