Olivia Dean launches Australian tour with sold-out Melbourne shows
Singer Olivia Dean has launched the Australian leg of her world tour, ‘The Art of Loving’, with two sold-out performances at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena. The 90-minute spectacle featured a nine-piece band, a horn section, and a theatrical set design inspired by 1970s chat shows, complete with a large white curtain and disco balls.
Dean’s performance drew on themes from her latest album, which explores the complexities of love. During the show, she referenced the influence of bell hooks and noted that the album is an attempt to understand the true meaning of love. Her musical style is described as a fusion of old and new, incorporating elements of big band and pop.
