Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan release ‘expectations’ remix

Olivia Rodrigo Chappell Roan expectations remix David Byrne music video

Pop artists Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan have released a remix of the song ‘expectations,’ a track from Rodrigo’s third studio album, ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.’ The collaboration marks Roan’s first official appearance as a featured artist on another musician's recording.

The remix, produced by Dan Nigro, introduces a new verse from Roan that shifts the song's perspective to include queer themes. The accompanying music video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, features a retro aesthetic inspired by 1970s and 1980s television game shows. The video includes a cameo by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, who portrays a fictional host named Johnny Johnson.

Limited-edition physical copies of the remix, including 7-inch vinyl, CDs, and cassettes, are available through the artists' stores. The release follows recent philanthropic efforts from both artists, including Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival and Roan’s upcoming Super Graphic Spectacular fundraiser.
