Olivia Rodrigo rejects use of AI in music creation

Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo has stated she will not use artificial intelligence in her music, calling it a “hard line” and an “unnegotiable” boundary for her creative process. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the artist explained that she prioritizes human participation in songwriting.

Rodrigo noted that she and her longtime producer, Dan Nigro, briefly experimented with ChatGPT to see what song titles it would suggest for her, but she described the results as “absolutely horrible.”

Her comments come amid a broader debate in the music industry regarding generative AI. While some artists view the technology as a tool similar to the introduction of synthesizers, others are engaged in legal disputes over copyright and the unauthorized use of artist identities and styles for training AI models.
