Olivia Rodrigo releases new album with Robert Smith duet
American singer‑songwriter Olivia Rodrigo issued her third studio album, *You Look Pretty Sad for a Girl in Love*, on 12 June. The record, described by Rodrigo as a "time capsule" of a recent relationship, includes the first original collaboration with Robert Smith of The Cure – the synth‑driven ballad "What's Wrong With Me".
The duet was first performed live at Primavera Sound in Barcelona before the studio version was released alongside the album. Rodrigo’s breakup with actor Louis Partridge earlier in the year inspired the album’s thematic shift from love‑song optimism to heartbreak, with tracks such as "Purple" and "Drop Dead" reflecting that transition. She will promote the album on the upcoming "Unraveled Tour", featuring dates at major venues including the O2 in London.
The collaboration also follows Rodrigo’s previous on‑stage appearance with Smith at Glastonbury 2025, underscoring her longstanding admiration for the iconic English band.
