At the Locarno Film Festival, director and actress Olivia Wilde presented her new film, "The Invite," at a sold-out screening on the Piazza Grande. Wilde discussed the industry challenges of securing a theatrical release, noting that financiers are often incentivized to opt for streaming services instead.

“They bribe you not to go to theaters,” Wilde stated, explaining that streaming platforms often offer more money to distributors. She expressed gratitude to A24 and FilmNation for believing in a theatrical run, emphasizing the importance of the cinematic experience for comedy.

"The Invite," written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, features a cast including Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton. The film follows a married couple whose relationship is tested after inviting mysterious neighbors to dinner.
