Olivier Echaudemaison, renowned makeup artist, dies at 84

Renowned French makeup artist and former creative director Olivier Echaudemaison has died at the age of 84. His passing was confirmed on Wednesday, August 12.

Echaudemaison was a prominent figure in the beauty and fashion industries. He served as the creative director for makeup at Guerlain for 25 years, where he was responsible for iconic products such as the KissKiss and Rouge G lipsticks. His career spanned several decades, including a period working with Givenchy in the 1990s.

Throughout his career, he worked with high-profile celebrities including Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren. In recognition of his contributions to French creation in the beauty sector, he was named an officer of the Arts and Letters in 2019.

Public tributes have been shared by various figures, including Carla Bruni, who recalled his kindness and his role in launching her career during a Givenchy campaign.
