Olivier Latry opens 10th ANO International Church Organ Festival

The 10th ANO International Church Organ Festival opened with a performance by world-renowned organist Olivier Latry at the Saint George Cathedral in Ano Syros. The event saw massive attendance, with crowds exceeding the cathedral's capacity, leading some spectators to watch via projections in the courtyard.

Latry, the longtime titular organist of Notre-Dame de Paris, performed on the historic church organ, which is considered a treasure of Syrian musical heritage and the oldest functional ecclesiastical organ in Greece. The recital concluded with a musical tribute to Syrian tradition, featuring an improvisation based on the work of Markos Vamvakaris.
