Halle Berry faces restraining order following child abuse allegations
A Los Angeles judge has issued a temporary restraining order against actress Halle Berry following allegations of physical abuse made by her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez. Martinez filed for sole custody of their 12-year-old son, Maceo, alleging that on September 26, Berry attacked the child during an argument involving virtual reality goggles. Martinez claimed Berry grabbed the boy by the neck and choked him, shouting, “Who is in charge now?!”
In response to the allegations, Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, has vehemently denied the claims, describing them as “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.” Beck further alleged that Martinez has a history of “erratic, possessive and violent behavior” and has repeatedly violated previous court orders regarding their son’s education and therapy.
The court order temporarily modifies Berry’s visitation rights. She is permitted to see Maceo on Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00 to 20:00. The judge also ordered Berry to maintain a distance of approximately 90 to 100 yards from Martinez. A follow-up hearing is scheduled for October 16 to determine if these measures will become permanent or if custody arrangements will be further altered.
