Aldershot Town left-back Ollie Harfield has returned to competitive action following a 717-day absence caused by a severe knee injury. The player described the recovery process as a “hell of a journey” after suffering broken bones and torn ligaments.

Harfield received applause from 491 fans at the EBB Stadium during a National League Cup match against West Ham United’s under-21 side. He expressed that the support from the crowd made the long period of rehabilitation worthwhile, noting that returning to the pitch in his kit was a major personal achievement.
