Ollie Robinson named England cricketer of the year

Ollie Robinson has been awarded the Bob Willis Trophy as England cricketer of the year at the Vitality Cricket Media Club Awards held at Lord’s. The 32-year-old seamer secured the honor following a successful return to the international stage after being out of the national selection for two and a half years.

During his recent appearances in Test matches against New Zealand and Pakistan, Robinson took 28 wickets with an average of 9.32. He is expected to play a significant role in England’s upcoming red-ball schedule, which includes tours to South Africa and Bangladesh, as well as the 150th anniversary Test in Melbourne against Australia.

Other award recipients at the ceremony included Naavya Sharma, who won the young cricketer of the year award, and Tilly Corteen-Coleman, who received the Vitality Women’s young cricketer of the year prize.
