Ollie Watkins faces potential Aston Villa exit amid transfer interest

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is facing a potential departure before the summer transfer window closes on September 1. Watkins was absent from the matchday squad during Villa’s 4-0 loss to Brighton, following confirmation from manager Unai Emery that the club has received offers for the 30-year-old.

Emery stated that while he does not wish to sell the striker, a transfer could occur if it serves the best interests of the player, the club, and the team, provided a replacement can be found. Interest in Watkins reportedly includes Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to pursue a deal for Watkins, suggesting the club could miss a significant opportunity if they do not act. Ferdinand also criticized the club's previous decision not to compete with Chelsea for Danny Welbeck.
