Ollie Watkins praises Saudi Pro League quality after Al-Hilal debut

England striker Ollie Watkins has praised the quality of the Saudi Pro League following his successful debut for Al-Hilal. After transferring from Aston Villa for a reported £51 million, Watkins scored in a 3-0 victory against Al-Ahli.

Watkins, who scored 108 goals during six seasons at Villa Park, stated that the intensity and physical demands of the Saudi competition are comparable to the English Premier League. He dismissed criticisms regarding the league's quality, citing the high level of play observed in recent matches.

Al-Hilal continues to establish itself as a major force in Asian football through significant financial investment. The club’s history of high-profile signings includes stars such as Neymar, Gabriel Martinelli, and Ruben Neves. Watkins joins a squad that features other prominent players including Kalidou Koulibaly and Theo Hernandez.
