Olmecas de Tabasco lead Serie del Rey 1-0 over Toros de Tijuana

The Olmecas de Tabasco took a 1-0 lead in the 2026 Serie del Rey of the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (LMB) after defeating the Toros de Tijuana 7-1 in Game 1 at Toros Mobil Park.

Olmecas pitcher Austin Warner delivered a dominant performance, pitching six scoreless innings with five strikeouts and allowing only three hits. The Olmecas' offense broke the game open in the third inning with a four-run rally against Tijuana's starter Daniel Martínez, who entered the postseason as the league's ERA leader. The Olmecas added three more runs in the ninth inning, including a home run by José Godoy.

The best-of-seven championship series features a significant logistical challenge, as the teams must travel approximately 2,890 kilometers between Tijuana and Villahermosa. The first two games are scheduled in Tijuana, with the series moving to the Estadio Centenario 27 de Febrero in Tabasco for Games 3, 4, and potentially 5.
