Olmeda de las Fuentes revives ancient Galician Magosto tradition

The small municipality of Olmeda de las Fuentes, about 50 km east of Madrid, held a night‑time Magosto celebration, a traditional Galician feast centered on fire, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine. The event, rooted in the autumn harvest rite, attracted locals and visitors who enjoyed traditional music, communal dining and cultural rituals. Organisers highlighted the town’s historic link to artists, its “white village of painters” identity, and promoted nearby cultural routes such as the Ruta de los Pintores and the church of San Pedro Apóstol.

The festival blends Galician customs with the local Alcarria landscape, offering a rural tourism experience and reinforcing community bonds during the fall season.
