Olmstead Point offers quiet views in Yosemite National Park

Olmstead Point offers a quieter alternative for visitors seeking panoramic views of Half Dome within Yosemite National Park. While the park receives over four million annual visitors, most crowds concentrate in Yosemite Valley near landmarks such as El Capitan and Yosemite Falls.

Located on Tioga Road, approximately one hour and 15 minutes east of Yosemite Valley, Olmstead Point provides a more tranquil experience away from heavy traffic. The area is accessible from the town of Lee Vining, which serves as a gateway to both eastern Yosemite and Mono Lake. Due to seasonal weather, Tioga Road is typically open from late May or early June through November, closing after the first heavy snowfall.
