Olmsted County unemployment rate falls to 3.6% in July

The unemployment rate in the Rochester, Minnesota area saw a modest decrease in July. According to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the jobless rate for Olmsted County fell to 3.6%, a 0.2 percentage point drop from June. However, this figure remains 0.5 percentage points higher than the rate reported in July of the previous year.

Across southeastern Minnesota, regional jobless rates were largely steady or slightly lower. Houston County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the region at 3.5%. Conversely, Goodhue County saw its jobless rate rise by 0.1 percentage points from June, reaching 4.9%.

On a statewide level, Minnesota’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July was 4.3%, representing a 0.1 percentage point decrease from June. This remains higher than the statewide rate of 3.8% reported in July of last year.
