Olomouc Archdiocese appoints new canons and provost

Archbishop Josef Nuzík has announced several key appointments within the Olomouc Archdiocese. On September 22, 2026, Father Pavel Hofírek was installed as the new provost of the Collegiate Chapter of St. Maurice in Kroměříž. Following this, on September 28, General Vicar Ladislav Švirák announced the appointment of two new canons to the Metropolitan Chapter of St. Wenceslas in Olomouc: Father Josef Mikulášek, a theological faculty teacher and synodal process coordinator, and Father Pavel Stefan, president of the Archdiocesan Charity.

The Kroměříž chapter, which dates back to the 13th century, aims to transition from a formal existence to a more active mission aligned with the 21st-century vision of the archdiocese. Under the leadership of Provost Hofírek, the chapter intends to focus on providing confession services and spiritual accompaniment for the entire archdiocese, addressing the needs of parishioners who seek spiritual guidance outside their local parishes.
