Olomouc court sentences teenager to 9.5 years for double murder
The Olomouc Regional Court has sentenced a 15-year-old male to 9.5 years in prison for two brutal murders committed last year in the Šumpava region. The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges during a non-public hearing.
The first incident occurred on October 3 in Uničov, where the teenager brutally attacked a 51-year-old man on a sidewalk, causing severe head and jaw injuries. The victim died two weeks later from his injuries.
Two days after the first victim's death, the teenager attacked a 75-year-old man in Zábřeh following a dispute over cigarettes. The court noted the attacker dragged the victim to a sheltered area and repeatedly struck him in the head and face with the intent to kill. The victim died at the scene.
In addition to the murders, the defendant was convicted of two robberies and one case of theft. Judge Petr Sušil stated that the maximum possible sentence of 10 years for a minor was not applied because the defendant admitted guilt to all counts of the indictment.
