Olomouc expands bus fleet with new electric and diesel purchases
The transport operator of the city of Olomouc (DPMO) signed a contract to acquire 20 new electric buses—ten 12‑metre and ten 18‑metre models—from Solaris. The total price of the electric fleet is 291 million Czech crowns (without VAT) and the project will be funded by the European Union, which will cover roughly 50 percent of the cost. The first electric buses are scheduled to arrive in the middle of 2028, and a charging infrastructure—including fast‑charging stations at stops and a depot charger—will be built concurrently.
In a separate tender, SOR Libchavy won the contract for ten diesel buses at a price of 75.855 million Czech crowns (without VAT). These diesel vehicles will supplement the electric fleet, providing a backup during power outages, major incidents or when additional capacity is needed, and are to be delivered within 260 days of the contract signing. Both procurements aim to replace aging diesel buses, improve service quality, and reduce emissions in Olomouc’s public transport system.
