Olomouc expands paid parking to daily hours in city centre
The Olomouc City Council approved a package of changes to the downtown parking policy. Zones A and B in the historic centre will be chargeable every day from 08:00 to 22:00, a shift from the previous weekday‑only schedule. The new rules are set to take effect on 1 February 2027, with signage and administrative adjustments planned in advance.
Deputy Mayor Tomáš Pejpek said the move responds to long‑standing resident requests to protect parking spaces for people who live in the centre. To balance resident needs with visitor access, the council plans to keep selected lots – such as those near the market hall and the Husův sbor – free on weekends, while offering a visitor credit that allows free hours for short visits. The city also intends to broaden payment options by adding more mobile‑app solutions and to prepare future parking zones C as part of a longer‑term expansion.
These measures aim to improve parking availability for residents while maintaining reasonable accessibility for shoppers, cultural event attendees and tourists.
