Olomouc hosts international parahockey and chess tournaments

Olomouc recently hosted two significant international sporting and cultural events. The sixth annual Olomouc Cup parahockey tournament concluded with the local team earning a silver medal after a close final against a team from Dresden, which won in a penalty shootout.

While the parahockey tournament saw fewer participants than previous years due to scheduling conflicts with the Group B World Championships, it featured new international competition from German teams.

Simultaneously, the 27th Olomouc Chess Summer festival reached record numbers, attracting 324 players from 33 different countries. The event included various skill levels and age categories, ranging from grandmasters to seniors, and has established itself as one of the five largest chess festivals in the Czech Republic.
