Olomouc hosts sports program for people with Parkinson's disease

As part of the European Week of Sport, the Department of Physiotherapy at Palacký University Olomouc and the Parkinson Club Olomouc organized a specialized program for individuals with Parkinson's disease.

The event featured the Josef Salavec Memorial bowling tournament, which brought together approximately thirty participants from Olomouc, Brno, and Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Following the competition, participants took part in a demonstration dance lesson as part of the NeuroDance project.

The NeuroDance project, funded by the European Union, aims to develop dance interventions tailored to people with Parkinson's disease to evaluate benefits for both motor skills and overall quality of life. Organizers emphasized that diverse physical activities are essential for maintaining independence and providing social connection for those living with the condition.
