Olomouc modernizes key intersections to improve traffic flow

Olomouc has completed the modernization of two major intersections on Svobody Street, specifically at Náměstí Národních hrdinů and the intersection with Havlíčkova Street. The project involved connecting the traffic lights via a coordination cable to create a synchronized flow, aimed at reducing traffic jams during peak hours.

The upgrade included replacing aging technical elements with new traffic light poles, surveillance cameras, and video detectors. Additionally, the project involved improving sidewalks to ensure barrier-free movement and updating pedestrian crossings. The total cost of the project was 27 million CZK, with 19.5 million CZK funded by a grant from the Operational Program Transport 2021–2027.
