Czech and Slovak towns host a variety of weekend festivals and cultural events

A series of towns across the Czech Republic and Slovakia are offering extensive programmes for the second weekend of July. In Přerov, the brothers Čadík's summer open‑air cinema will screen four family‑friendly films from July 17‑20 with free admission and optional donations. Nearby Pelhřimov and Humpolec will host a Western‑themed day with Indigenous performances, a free outdoor concert, a Croatian‑style food market, and a free summer dance in the town square. Borovany will celebrate its 20th anniversary of the blueberry‑picking festival with regional specialties, live music from revivals to blues, and performances by nearly 300 artists. Olomouc’s programme includes a vernissage of graphic art, a fire‑brigade dance evening, a charity guláš‑festival, a children’s castle tour, and a two‑day Langoš weekend with free street food. Ružomberok and surrounding Slovak villages will run a summer cinema schedule, a historic steam‑train ride, a military‑history day, folk‑craft workshops, and amateur football tournaments. Additional events in Kolín, Javoříčko, Libodřice and other locations feature open‑air concerts, dance parties, animal‑themed days, and historical reenactments. The programmes aim to provide free or low‑cost entertainment for families, tourists and local residents alike.
