Olomouc Region to form joint venture with Agel Group for hospital operations

The Olomouc Region has approved a plan to establish a joint venture with the Agel Group to operate four hospitals: Prostějov, Přerov, Šternberk, and Jeseník. The joint venture is scheduled to launch in June next year.

Under the proposed agreement, the Agel Group will hold 51 percent of the voting rights, while the region, through the company Nemocnice Olomouckého kraje (NOK), will hold 49 percent. The regional company is guaranteed at least a 34 percent share of the joint venture's profits. As part of the deal, Agel commits to investing three billion CZK into these four hospitals over the next ten years.

The move follows the upcoming expiration of a twenty-year lease agreement between the regional government and Agel Středomoravská nemocniční. While regional leadership views this as a critical step for further negotiations, opposition members have called for strict contractual guarantees to ensure the continued availability and quality of healthcare services in the region.
