Olomoucký region police investigate gang attacks on youths

Police in the Olomoucký region of the Czech Republic are investigating a series of violent attacks targeting young people during local festivities. The most recent incident occurred in Náměšť na Hané during the night of August 22–23, where three youths—including one minor—were assaulted by a group of masked individuals.

The attacks appear to follow a pattern where a group of non-local aggressors targets isolated individuals during village celebrations. One victim, a 14-year-old boy, suffered a broken nose, while another was hospitalized at the Olomouc University Hospital with multiple facial fractures.

Local officials, including the mayor of Slatinice, Ondřej Mikmek, noted that such incidents have become a recurring issue in the area, with aggressors reportedly selecting victims from local events to attack in public spaces at night. Police are treating the Náměšť na Hané case as an attempted injury and disorderly conduct, which could carry prison sentences of one to five years.
