Olsberg council approves modular building for Bigge primary school

The Olsberg City Council has approved plans to pursue a modular building construction on Martinusweg to provide future childcare services for the St. Martinus Grundschule Bigge. This decision aims to address the need for more space for the school's all-day program (OGS) and to manage the aging school infrastructure.

Recent testing revealed asbestos residues within the school building, though experts have clarified that the contamination is limited to a few specific points that can be addressed during renovation. Additionally, the city is awaiting an expert report regarding the use of a former kindergarten as a childcare facility, as current assessments suggest potential issues regarding occupational health and safety standards.

Beyond childcare space, the school's heating system has been identified as a priority area requiring urgent renovation.
