Olsztyn to expand bus depot for electric and hybrid fleet

The city of Olsztyn is proceeding with a major expansion of its bus depot located on Aleja Sikorskiego to support the modernization of its public transport system. The project, valued at over 35 million PLN, aims to prepare the city for the operation of zero-emission vehicles, including the planned purchase of 11 electric buses.

Contracted to INTOP S.A., the project is expected to take 18 months to complete. The expansion will include a new workshop and social building, additional parking spaces, and technical infrastructure. To support sustainability, 600 kW photovoltaic systems will be installed to provide energy for the facility and feed electricity directly into the tram network.

To minimize disruption, construction will be carried out in stages to ensure the depot remains operational and can continue servicing the city's current bus fleet during the works. The new facility will serve as a strategic base for buses operating in the southern and southeastern parts of the city, reducing empty runs to northern depots.
