Olufemi Komolafe stripped of Stawell Gift title after failed drug test

Olufemi Komolafe has been stripped of his 2026 Stawell Gift title and $40,000 prize following a failed drug test. Sport Integrity Australia issued the 21-year-old medical student a 12-month ban, a reduction from the standard four-year penalty after determining the violation was inadvertent.

Komolafe reportedly consumed a banned substance contained in ADHD medication to assist with his university studies. His coach, Paul Young, noted that the athlete was upfront with testers regarding the medication and stated the substance does not possess performance-enhancing qualities for sprinting.

As a result of the disqualification, Jake Ireland, who finished second in the 120m sprint, has been elevated to the winner of the event.
