Olula del Río residents face 1.4 million euro water debt
In Olula del Río, the PSOE municipal group has denounced that local residents will be forced to cover a debt of more than 1.4 million euros owed to Gestagua, the private company managing the water supply.
Spokesperson Diego Castaño stated that the accumulated debt of 1,453,316.80 euros will impact citizens' bills following the approval of a contract extension by the current mayor and government team. The socialist group also reported a significant increase in water costs, claiming that service fees have risen by approximately 250% since 2012. According to their estimates, an average household of four has seen quarterly payments rise from roughly 43 euros in 2012 to nearly 73 euros every two months currently.
