Oluremi Tinubu expands Renewed Hope food outreach to Ondo State
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, extended the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Food Outreach Scheme to Ondo State, making it the 28th state to receive the programme. Hundreds of vulnerable residents, including persons with disabilities, were given food items at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure. The distribution is funded by monthly donations of two truckloads of food from the Abdusamad Rabiu Africa Initiative and an anonymous donor, and is part of a broader social‑investment effort to combat hunger, child malnutrition and poverty.
The Renewed Hope Initiative also runs a nationwide vocational skills programme, the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme, which aims to equip tens of thousands of Nigerians with employable skills and promote entrepreneurship as a means of poverty reduction. In parallel, the federal government has disbursed N32.9 billion to support more than 8,300 primary health‑care centres, expanding the health‑sector fund to improve service delivery across the country.
Earlier, Oluremi Tinubu met Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman, who highlighted Israel’s donations of ambulances, wheelchairs and medical support to Nigeria, underscoring the First Lady’s call for compassion and cooperation in national development.
